Australian Intentional Communities Conference 2013
6-8 December 2013
Moora Moora
Co-operative Community
Healesville Vic
AIMS:
For members of intentional communities to share their experiences and knowledge, to deepen the bonds between communities and to help communities to develop and flourish.
PARTICIPANTS:
Members of established and ‘forming’ communities are invited to attend. Registrations from members of existing intentional communities will have priority. Tickets will cost $265, including the conference fee, catering and accommodation. Numbers will be limited, so apply early.
THE SITE:
Moora Moora is situated in a picturesque mountaintop environment near Healesville, Victoria, and has established facilities for hosting courses and conferences. We have basic camping for up to 100 people. There is also B & B and caravan park accommodation nearby. The Moora Moora team will provide full catering with quality vegetarian meals. As Moora Moora is Land for Wildlife, no cats, dogs or firearms are allowed. Camp fires will also not be permitted and illegal drugs are not tolerated.
PROGRAM:
We are planning three days of conferencing structured around panels, workshops and individual presentations. We expect panels will have three or four speakers, each from different communities. Sessions will last 45-90 minutes each and will include both presentations and questions. In the afternoons, there will be small, focussed discussion groups and an all-in plenary session.
We are asking that intending participants suggest topics of interest and consider offering themselves as a presenter or panellist and bring relevant short films or slide shows. Topics are expected to reflect broad areas of interest that exist within communities, with streams of interest to existing communities and to newly-forming communities. In previous years, topics have included ethics and governance, social harmony and conflict resolution, legal issues, generational change, ownership models, community economies, environmental issues, and seeding new communities.
OTHER ACTIVITIES:
Also included will be a tour of Moora Moora, and a night of music and entertainment with communities contributing short acts. We also anticipate including morning yoga sessions and children’s activities.
WHAT WE NEED:
Please contact us for further information and let us know if there are specific topics you would like to see the conference address. We would love to hear your expressions of interest and how you might like to contribute (offers to help run the conference are welcome). Email
